First Colorado Wedding

We had a last minute opportunity come our way to photograph a sister of a friend's backyard wedding in Ft. Collins. It was a fun group of people and we had gorgeous weather.

After arriving in Colorado we spent an afternoon on campus at Colorado State Univeristy playing with the flowers, sun, bees and grasshopers just enjoying having a camera in hand!

One Moment In Time has officially relocated to Loveland, Colorado! After spending a incredible 2 years in Maui enjoying life, photography, each other, beaches and scuba diving we decided it was time to come back to the mainland. We left behind some special friends we will hold dear to our heart and some memories that will fill our hearts forever! We decided to land in Loveland, Colorado where Shad grew up. Friends, family, job and housing opportunities and the cost of living is what influenced our decision. Shad moved away from this area almost 15 years ago. We are enjoying the new opportunities the Lord has put in our paths, family and friends that surround us and the beauty of the mountains and rivers. Not too sure about the snow that is right around the corner but we embrace each day as it comes!

We are flying out to Colorado tomorrow. We will be arriving a few day early for Kilian's high school graduation. What a milestone in life! Never did we expect to be where we are when this day was to arrive! We are looking forward to spending some time in the presence of our friends and family. As we thank the Lord for the blessings in our lives, we also look to Him for direction to the next steps in our lives.

Today we sat and wept together as we watched the memorial service of fallen Eugene Police Officer Chris Kilcullen. We had never met the guy but he touched our lives today. Triggered memories of our first law enforcement memorial for Jason, Becky's memorial, Grandpas funeral. The bagpipes, taps, the folding of the flag, the End of Watch call! We both were overwhelmed with emotions! Some guilt for "stepping down from his post", for living in ease and paradise. Selfishness for being away from family and friends, not dodging the bullet everyday. Gratefulness that the Lord brought Shad home everyday and night that he wore his badge for so many years. Anger and hatred for "that women" that took a brother's life (we hope she had to sit in jail and watch his ceremony). Sorrow for a wife who will never be able to touch her husband again and for girls who will never feel their father's hug again. Honor for still being a sheepdog and feeling and understanding the sense of family and brotherhood. Love for each other stronger than the day before and for family and friends. We are missing our law enforcement family today wishing we could be there to share in the pain and sorrow, to offer them strength and courage to put their badge on again tomorrow. People from all walks of life can see the images, hear the words and watch this ceremony today but only those that have made the sacrifice day after day wearing the uniform and dodging the bullet and the families that watch their loved ones walk out the door in hope and prayer they will return at the end of the day can understand the emotions that were shared today. Chris and his family have paid the ultimate sacrifice that us and our fellow brothers and sisters fear they never have to pay but are willing to if it be God's path. Shad and I loved a little more today, ate ice cream on the beach to lighten our hearts and cried together bringing us closer as one because of Chris. Thank you Chris. Because of Chris we have reflected on our past, present and looked to our future in prayer that God will show us the way.

Went to sunrise Easter service this morning before having to be at work. Beautiful setting of a stone church along side the ocean on a hot morning with the palm trees blowing in the breeze. Beautiful hymns and verses being sung in Hawaiian and English. Church bells ringing flooding back memories and emotions of my childhood attending church with my grandparents.

Sunset tonight was BEAUTIFUL! South swell waves were rocking! We enjoyed dinner on the beach watching the beautiful sunset and waves on a beach all by ourselves while Denali hunted crabs! Life is GOOD today.

5 years ago today a little ball of fluff entered the world. 3 months later she became a part of our lives and we named her Denali. She has brought such joy and unconditional love to our lives. Shad's cousin Sarah is here with us for a week. She flew all the way from Washington DC. She really came to see Denali but has to be nice to us too since we are giving her a bed to sleep in. She has enjoyed a day at the Grand Wailea, whale watch, adventures to Lahaina, Honolua Bay to watch the surfers and around the Northwest loop of the West Maui's. She thinks Maui life is a little rough with dinner on the beach last night and infinity pool and hot tub at the Mariott at sunset tonight.

It all started as we were watching House marathon on Hulu.com when I received a text from a dear friend of mine who now lives in Oahu. Told us we were on Tsunami warning. Up and at 'em we hopped on the computers to start getting more information. We filled jugs of water, started making more ice, gathered flashlights and started to see if our friends needed any place to go. We live far enough and high enough from the beach that we are considered an evacuation area that people come to. Then the tsunami siren went off. That is an eerie sound! Not the first time we have experienced it but still eerie! We waited a bit before we ventured out to get in line at the gas stations to fill the jeep up just in case. Wasn't too long of a line, better than expected. People were definitely on the roads and evacuating from lower areas. Our friends who needed to evacuate came over to try and get some sleep in our spare bed for the night. Sirens sounded every hour with the last one going off at 3am. Waves were expected to hit at 3:20am. Shad pretty much slept through it all (he was still sick with the flu). I got up as it was expecting to hit trying to get updates online. Couldn't really see anything because of the dark and couldn't tell what updates were the truth on the media and social networks. Finally went back to bed about 4am after nothing major was going on. Friends left at 5:30 as the light was starting to arrive for the day and said the 3rd surge was just now happening. I went back to bed to try and get more zzzz's. In between texts, phone calls and lots of traffic, we did get some sleep. It was a beautiful day. We ventured out in the early afternoon to run some errands and grab some food (Shad was finally hungry). Obvious flooding where the water surged in on South Kihei Rd. Nothing more than what we have had in the recent past with rain showers. Lot's of debris, beaches were closed and the water was choppy and chocolate. Life was pretty much normal. We heard there was more of a mess in the harbor and up in Kahalui. Shad went to work tonight at the airport so looking forward to hearing how things were up there. We sat and watched the news and devastation in Japan. We spoke about how we would survive a major disaster and how we would enjoy the opportunity to take photos of tragedy to help communicate to the world and show the powers of nature.
Thank you Lord for keeping us safe! Please be with those directly involved with the tragedy in Japan.

We met Rod & Trisch Clarke who is from Bend, Oregon at Outrigger of Kahana for a photo shoot. Trisch works at Deschutes County Sheriff Dept and also helps with Central Oregon Police Chaplaincy. It was nice to catch up with some people from back home.
